Save the Pilot Scenario

To save an aircraft from a disastrous crash. Toxic materials where mixed into the chemicals of a spraying aircraft, causing the pilot to fall unconscious. The task: a rescuer must fly on a rope attached to a helicopter and set down onto the top of the out-of-control aircraft. Then the rescuer saves the pilot and lands the airplane safely. A Turn of events...as the pilot is being rescued, the aircraft runs out of fuel so the rescuer jumps with the toxic material and lands it safely.

It took several attempts to fly the helicopter-airplane (one engine feathered) formation, but we finally had the stuntman land on the wing, then subsequently onto the plane's roof and climb into the cockpit. A real challenge for the stuntman, he had to fly his body around the turning prop!

The jump to save the toxic chemicals was made using a 26 year old round style canopy, with our (at that time) 19 year old stuntman Christian "Wuzi" Wagner.
